Want to see sea lions smile and penguins play? Then you otter head to the New England Aquarium in Boston, one of the city's perpetually popular family attractions.

The New England Aquarium, which opened in 1969, is a global leader in ocean exploration and marine conservation. The Aquarium is one of the premier visitor attractions in Boston, with over 1.3 million visitors a year, and a major public education resource.

Once inside, you'll find yourself immersed in a watery world, where you can wave your flippers at cavorting sea lions, giggle at the antics of otters, and press your nose right up against the glass of the poisonous fish tank--if you dare! At the center core of the Aquarium is the four-story, 200,000 gallon Giant Ocean Tank, a Coral Reef environment filled with curious sea critters ranging from sea turtles, and tropical fishes to sharks, stingrays, and moray eels.
